Selling on eBay

As some of our visitors will know, when we first started working seriously on the Internet we did so as booksellers, selling physical (as distinct from digital) products, and continue still to develop that side of our business. Our first venture was in secondhand books sold through several of the international book-dealers' listing services, and these continue to form one of our revenue streams.

Our second initiative was the launch of the BrunleaBooks eBay store, which we have kept small but continues to sell chiefly to the UK market. This is now being refocused slightly to emphasise our stock of both secondhand and new gardening books.

eBay Selling - Sources of Good Advice

Early in the development of our business we looked around for advice, and very quickly discovered the difference between genuine, high-quality advisers and the many quacks and charlatans who populate far too much of the online world.

My first totally wasted $47 was spent on an ebook that supposedly would answer all my questions. It told me nothing that I had not already read in free emails, and was written in just about the sloppyiest style I've ever had the misfortune to come across. My emailed complaint was never answered!

So, from the heart of my pocket I say to the novice: Beware!

The Insider Secrets ...

Although above I was rather scathing about some over-priced materials, there is one major training programme which comes highly recommended. I have not used it myself because eBay is no longer our major thrust, but many have benefited greatly from this programme offered over several years now by Derek Gehl of the International Marketing Center. You owe it to yourself to investigate this one thoroughly. It's deep; it's extensive; and it's also down-to-earth practical! You could be applying its teachings in a matter of hours, and making money from them. Don't decide too easily that you can do without it. This course could help set your eBay business alight. eBay Research

If you're going to sell on eBay to any considerable extent you need to do your homework. You can, of course, get limited information on what is selling, and for how much, by scanning a lot of pages and using the search facility in eBay itself. However, if you're really serious about this you should not be without the Terapeak research tool. You can try it from here for two weeks free of charge.
