We're planning a more extensive page on rotators, including articles on approaches to using them effectively. They are extremely important for:

• varying the page shown when someone clicks on a link, for example in a traffic exchange; this could be, for example, to give exposure to a number of different products or services more or less simultaneously
• testing the response rate to different page versions and so helping to develop the most effective design

If you subscribe to the traffic exchange Hit Gusher and enter a number of sites to be displayed there they provide you with the address of a free rotator which you can submit to other exchanges and use as the target URL in any other appropriate advertising. The URLs which you have entered into Hit Gusher will then be shown in rotation at those other locations.
